S.A.R.A. Minutes of Meeting of
June 6, 2007

The meeting having been duly noticed, it began at approximately 7:43 pm and was called to order by Christina Sand, President. There were introductions around the table, those present introduced themselves.

Old Business:

Field Day 2007.
  • We will operate two HF stations and no GOTA station, 100 watts, emergency power. There will be two 2-element StepIR antennas on 42' Force 12 Low Profile Towers.
  • Final preps will be on 6/21, set up on 6/22 and start operation at 11:00. Off the hill by 3:00 on 6/23.
  • New Business:

    Treasurer's Report.
  • There has been no response to the requests for an additional $10 for membership dues for 2007.
  •   Secretary's Report.
  • The April and May minutes were unanimously approved by the members.
  • Form SI-100, Statement of Information (Domestic Nonprofit Corporation) is due to be filed with the Secretary of State by August. A filing fee of $20 will be submitted with the form.
  •   Business Items.
  • Christina is working to prepare the federal tax exempt application for SARA. Bill Brooks might be willing to assist.
  •   Nets.
  • Don Steinbach performed the EOC-to-EOC radio check this morning. The test was successful. The test started late due to County Comm. equipment problems. Los Gatos finally took the net.
  • SARA is net control for the SVECS net on 6/12/07. Rob Vance will cover.
  •   Emergency Communications Committee Report.
  • The antenna for the SARA repeater has been installed on the pole at the Corporate Yard. We are waiting on a cabinet to be donated by County Comm.
  • There will be a CERT Communications Committee meeting on June 13.
  • Don Steinbach has delivered spare fuses and a fusing schedule to the EOC.
  • Rob Vance, Yin Shih and Don Steinbach attended an EOC Planning Meeting with Jim Yoke on May 25.
  • Both of the EOC radio cabinets are being kept locked. The FD has installed a lockbox for our mutual use. Don Steinbach will attempt to return the lockbox that SARA purchased and return the amount back to the treasury Rotary Grant fund.
  •   Emergency Services.
  • All present filled out DSW application forms and were sworn in by Jim Yoke.
  • Golden Guardian is a full-day exercise on November 14, 2007. It's an annual exercise sponsored by the Govenor's Office of Homeland Security.
  • Jim Yoke is trying to implement congruent emergency planning whereby the school districts, West Valley College, CERT, etc., all "get in step." Communications is a major issue since each of these groups will have radios independent of the others.
  • There is now internet access from the EOC room.
  •   Program.
  • The program for the evening was Field Day 2007 planning.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 pm.
