The meeting having been duly noticed, it began at approximately 7:40 pm and was called to order by Yin Shih. There were introductions around the table, those present introduced themselves.

OLD Business:

EOC Net. Signups were taken for the County EOC to City EOC net on the first Wednesday of the month. The radio is still not working. Rob will analyze the antenna and communicate with the City of Saratoga.

Radio Station. The cabinet has been installed and the process of building the radio station can now begin.
Saratoga 50th Anniversary Parade. Thanks were offered to all who participated from Yin Shih, N9YS, and Christina Sand, KG6ORH. The tactical calls worked very well. Joe Talaich, N6IWJ, commented that he needed a headset as he was in the midst of marching bands. Don Steinbach, AE6PM, was a fantastic net control and it was agreed that it was a good idea to place the net control in a place with less activity. Christina agreed and said there was a similar problem with the loudspeakers at the grandstand. Christina also commented that there was no publicity given to SARA for the work that was done for the parade. We need to write an article talking about that an publicizing the Halloween Caper.

New Business:

Treasurer's Report. The Treasurer gave his report on the bank account balance.
Minutes. The September minutes have been posted on the web site and were approved by the members.
  Emergency Communications Committee Report.
  • Rob Vance, N6ROB, informed us that there are discussions in process regarding moving the 2M repeater from Rob's house to new facilities at a space provided by agreement with the City of Saratoga. The City of Saratoga is considering providing space on their tower. There will also be a county exercise. Rob will forward information on this to the members.
  • Rob Vance, N6ROB, attended the Section Manager's conference on September 20th. He is waiting for the minutes of that meeting and will post them to the Reflector when they become available.
Halloween Caper. The Halloween Caper was discussed. Sign-ups were taken at the meeting, but more volunteers are needed. Dave Anderson will be riding with the Sheriff that night and he will be our point of contact for the Net Control. The City will provide volunteer vests, once again. Christina will prepare "cheat sheets" similar to those provided for the Saratoga 50th Parade.
S.A.R.A. Net. The 2M net on Tuesday nights at 7:30 pm is very poorly attended. It was agreed by the members to move the net to Monday night at 9:00 pm in hopes that this will improve attendance.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 9:00 pm.
