S.A.R.A. Minutes of Meeting of
December 14, 2005

The meeting having been duly noticed, it began at approximately 7:30 pm and was called to order by John Glass. There were introductions around the table, those present introduced themselves.

OLD Business:

Fire Station Update. There was discussion of the history of the old fire station. The S.A.R.A. club is in the process of relocating to the new fire station. A secure cabinet is in the process of being procured. There will be two positions at the new fire station and Rob read out a list of the equipment being installed there. Dave Anderson requested that we get headsets for the station operators. There are still items to purchase.

Field Day Site. David Ritchie talked about the Field Day site cleanup to remove interfering foliage.
   

New Business:

Monthly EOC Net. EOC is having a monthly communications exercise. S.A.R.A. participated last month. The exercise is at 9:30 AM on the first Wednesday of the month. Club participation for future exercises will be taken under consideration. Rob Vance volunteered to participate in the next exercise. Christina will make a sign up sheet. The net control rotates among the participants. The net control script was sent out in an email.
  Treasurer's Report. None given.
  Future S.A.R.A. Meetings. A proposal to move the future S.A.R.A. club meetings to the new fire station was made. There was discussion as to what day the meeting room was available and it was determined that second Wednesday of the month was already taken. Rob will find out if other days are available and if we can switch with the organization that reserved the meeting room on the second Wednesday of the month.
  Repeater Failure. Rob repaired the repeater. Thanks to Rob for fixing it!
  Cupertino CERT Presentation. Marsha Hovey and Jim Oberhofer gave a talk on CERT. Cupertino uses FRS radios, not GMRS radios. Radio frequencies are assigned to each group (team) within the CERT deployment. Likely disasters for our area are: 1. Earthquake 2. Flood 3. Dam Break 4. Terrorist attack 5. Pandemic
  Elections. The annual club election of officers was held and the following members were elected to office:

  • Director: Dick Crouch
John Glass expressed his thanks for allowing him to serve as President for the past 2 years.
