S.A.R.A. Minutes of Meeting of
January 12, 2005
Location: Saratoga City Hall

The meeting having been duly noticed, it began at approximately 7:30 PM by Christina Sand, Club Treasurer. There were introductions around the table, those present introduced themselves.

OLD Business:

Minutes. Minutes for October and December 2004 were circulated, and ratified. These minutes have also been available for review on the club website for several weeks.

  Rotary Club Grant Application. Rob Vance reported that we were awarded the grant.
  Field Day 2004. Richard Crouch, N6RC, distributed photos of Field Day 2004 for Saratoga. These photos may be seen at N6RC.com
   

New Business:

Membership. Forms for membership renewal were distributed. Because the club is now officially affiliated with the ARRL, members may renew their membership with the ARRL through our club and the club will receive a small commission. Forms for ARRL membership were distributed. Currently there are 34 members.
  Treasurer's Report. Christina Sand reported the current bank account balance.
  Announcements. Information on each of the following was circulated at the meeting, and was emailed all club members.
  • There is a county-wide Emergency Communications drill planned for January 22nd, 2005, at 2:00PM. Saratoga’s effort will be coordinated by Don Anastasia, AA6W.
  • There is a Red Cross Emergency Preparedness Fair on January 22nd, 2005 in Los Altos.
  • There is a Ham Radio “Cram Class” intended to help prospective amateurs prepare for their license exam.
  Tax Exempt Status. Christina Sand is planning to submit the paperwork required for our federal tax-exempt status by the end of February.
  News. Bob Ferraro, W6RJ and owner of Ham Radio Outlet, has had a heart attack. No further info is available.
  Code Sheet. Rob Vance, N6ROB, distributed a code sheet to operate the club repeater and explained some of the functions.
  Elections. Elections were held and officers for 2005 are as follows:

  • Vice President: Yin Shih, N9YS
  • Secretary: Greg Reynolds, KG6HDI
  • Treasurer: Christina Sand, KG6ORH
  • Director: Richard Crouch, N6RC
