Saratoga Fire Station
The minutes were respectfully submitted by Rob Vance, Acting Secretary.
In attendance were:
- Rob Vance, N6ROB
- Christina Sand, KG6ORH
- John Glass, NU6P
- Lou DeGive, WA6RAG
- Greg Reynolds, KG6HDI
- Andy Barnes, KW6P
- Yin Shih, N9YS
- Jon Dutra, KB6NP
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by John Glass. Tonight's meeting was held at the Saratoga Fire Station, after being duly noticed on the club's website as well as individual email notices being sent to all of the members.
Old Business:
- Minutes. Minutes for September and November 2004 were ratified. October minutes will be amended, reviewed and ratified at the next meeting.
- Field Day. Pins for the 2004 Field Day event were presented to Yin Shih and also given to Yin Shih for delivery to Paul Henry, KE6RUH, and Dave Ritchey, KF6HIE, who also participated.
- Rotary Club Grant Application. Rob Vance and John Glass reported that we continue to pursue funding from the Saratoga Rotary. We should have news by January. Yin Shih advised that his son is going for Eagle Scout. In pursuit of this effort each candidate must construct a project for the public good. Helping with the club station may be a suitable project for candidacy and would give the club some help with building the station.
New Business:
- Membership. Forms for membership renewal were distributed. Because the club is now officially affiliated with the ARRL, members may renew their membership with the ARRL through our club and the club will receive a small commission. Forms for ARRL membership were distributed. Currently there are 34 members.
- Treasurer's Report. Christina Sand reported the current bank account balance. There is one outstanding expenditure of $100 for “The Brick”, a donation made to the Saratoga Fire Department. Recent expenditures for the feed lines and an antenna at the fire station have reduced our treasury to its current level.
- Firehouse Tour. Captain Morrison of the Saratoga Fire Station was kind enough to give us a tour of the new Saratoga Fire Station. The station opened in August and is approximately twice the size of the old station. The new station offers enhanced sleeping quarters, exercise room, classroom (which will serve as the City’s EOC), kitchen, medicine room, machine shop, TV room, balcony, and office facilities the Chief, Assistant Chief, and Captains. The station has two Engines, a Rescue Truck, and a smaller Paramedic Truck. The garage (called the Apparatus Room) is large enough to handle an additional ladder truck if the City acquires one in the future. The station also has a separate garage and quarters for the ambulance team.
- Christina Sand baked brownies and pumpkin spice cake for our holiday celebration.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.
