S.A.R.A. Minutes from meeting on 9/9/2004

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by John Glass.
Old Business:
- Minutes: The minutes from the April, May and June meetings had been previously posted at the club's website for review and were approved without comment or revision.
- Field Day: Richard Crouch, N6RC, gave a report on the club's participation in the ARRL Field Day event, which was also reported in the Saratoga News.
- ARRL: S.A.R.A.'s application for affiliation with the ARRL has been formally approved.
New Business:
- Treasurer's Report: Christina reported the current bank account balance.
- Expenses: Rob Vance purchased the new cable that will be installed in the club's station in Saratoga's new firehouse. Rob incurred $217.15 in expenses. It was unanimously agreed that the club should reimburse Rob for the expense.
- Fire Station Open House: The new fire station will hold an open house on September 17, 2004 at 3:00 p.m.
- Halloween Caper: The Halloween Caper will be held, once again, on October 31, 2004. Rob Vance will take responsibility for organizing the event and scheduling the shifts.
- Training Exercise: Don Anastasia reported that there will be an emergency communications training exercise and invited everyone to attend.
- Speaker: Glenn Thomas, our ARRL section representative, spoke to the club this evening. He updated the club on the ARRL's fight in front of the FCC over the BPL issue and the Spectrum Protection Act. He informed the club that the ARRL was also reviewing the license structure and the licensing requirements vis-a-vis CW. Glenn also informed the club that he was stepping down from his position as section representative and was looking for a replacement.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.
