Saratoga Amateur
Radio Association
Minutes
of the monthly meeting of November 13, 2002
The
meeting was called to order by President Rob Vance, N6ROB, at 7:30 pm,
with
10 people present.
Rob
mentioned that last months meeting was a tour of County
Communications,
given by Dave Schultheis, WB6KHP.
A
fun time was had by all, and a big thanks to Dave for showing the facility
to
us.
Don
Anastasia passed out an updated phone tree list, and asked people for
additions
and corrections.
Don
told us that the packet station at city hall is fully functional, and he
handed
out written instructions for operating it.
John
Mc Cartney and Don Anastasia have been working hard revising and updating
the
Saratoga ARES/RACES Handbook.
They
had a few draft copies which were passed around for people to look at.
As
Emergency Coordinator for the city of Saratoga, Don Anastasia presented John
Mc
Cartney a certificate from ARRL, for all of his hard work as Assistant EC
for
the city.
Don
told us that our Field Day results are on page 100 of the November QST.
Our
presentation for the evening was given by President Rob Vance, N6ROB.
He
told us all about the club's new repeater, which he and John Glass, NU6P
have
put together.
Rob
started the presentation by thanking Dan Smith, K6PRK for building our
first
repeater, and for hosting it at his house for the last 5 years.
Next,
he showed pictures, and described in detail the process he went through
to
obtain all of the equipment, and how he modified the GE MASTR mobile radio
for
repeater operation.
The
new controller has a built in clock and voice synthesizer, which allows it
to
automatically remind people about club nets and meetings.
A
code sheet was passed out to all members, so that they can try out all of the
new
features.
There
being no further business before the Association, the meeting was
adjourned
at approximately 9:00 PM.
Submitted
by John Glass, NU6P, SARA Secretary for 2002.
